Welcome to Downers Grove Township the oldest form of government in our country. It is a pleasure for me to have this opportunity to introduce you to our department and outline our many fine services. Township services touch the lives of most of our residents. We are small, accessible, responsive, and cost effective claiming less than one and one-half percent of the entire real estate tax bill.

Downers Grove Township is the largest township in DuPage County, containing over 50 square miles. Other townships in the county have 36 square miles. The township is bounded on the north by 39th street, on the south by the Des Plaines river, on the east by County Line Road and on the west by Woodward Avenue in Downers Grove.

Downers Grove Township has over 148,000 residents, and includes all or portions of 9 incorporated towns: Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Westmont, Willowbrook, Woodridge and unincorporated Lemont.

Downers Grove Township Highway Department maintains approximately 80 miles of roadway in the unincorporated areas of Downers Grove Township. The Highway Department has typically had the lowest cost per mile for maintenance of the nine townships in DuPage County.

I hope the following information will be
helpful and interesting and I look forward
to serving your needs in the future.
